Laughing Turtle Dove |
The Laughing Turtle Dove is a delight to have in the garden no squabbling over petty matters for them ,they just get on with things in the most peaceful way with with nothing more the a coo.
There are almost always a pair of them but when Mum is nesting in the plum tree next door
we only see Dad waiting and watching, when feeding there seems to be one on watch up on the power lines so the other can eat in peace.
The Turtle dove is a migrant having being introduced
to West Australia in the late 1890's from Africa. Laughing Turtle Doves love town life
and are only seen in the towns and citys. They are seed eaters and feed mainly on the ground.

We have a couple that live in our carob tree - they're welcome visitors in our garden too.
