Weevil's (curculionoidea family)

Weevil
I always thought Weevils were those nasty little things that you found making cobweb like things in your last packet of flour when town was 8 hours away and the rivers were all up.
Well how wrong I was .Yes they are weevils but they belong to a family with over 60,000 species.
There are Fungus weevils, Leaf rolling weevils, straight snout weevils, Blue ones red ones and of course just the plane jane type of weevil .
The female weevil lays her eggs each spring  after 14 days the larvae hatch and burrow into the ground  where they feed on roots .
All of this I was completely unaware of until I photographed a large strange looking beetle out the bush one day and during my little journey to identify it found this info.
Now that I know what they are I have found quite a few in my garden, it will be interesting to see how many different ones I find.
The photo above was taken during one of my nightly rambles of my backyard with my trusty camera and headlamp.
This little chap was on one of my rose bushes and was only about 1/2 cm in length.
