After the Rain

This year got off to a wonderful start with heavy soaking rain and then again a few weeks ago, a record fall  over a twenty four hour period of over a 180 ml, more than a third of our annual rainfall.
Needless to say the countryside is looking good and all the lakes are overflowing and the wildlife is making good use of this time of abundance.
I was fortunate to do a trip out to Rowles Lagoon on the weekend. The last time I was there a few years ago I was saddened to find it completely dry just a mud flat and in spite of good summer rains last year it remained dry.
But now it is full and the water is right up to and covering the picnic tables,
Not it's intended use!!!
Disappearing Coot
I was hopeful of seeing lots of birds as it is a stop over for 118 kinds of Migratory birds  of these 41 are waterbirds but only saw and heard one or two but I did get a poor quality shot of an Eurasian Coot who along with others were hiding in the tea trees around the lake. 16 types of waterbirds are know to breed at Rowles but no doubt the birds had taken it off their map due to the long dry spell .lol

Gone!

What do you think your looking at!

Off to find another spider

So I had to satisfy myself with photographing a few insects and one darling little lizard who was very curious about us and do doubt would have enjoyed a few of the fly's and mossie's that were also enjoying our company and blood.
