Common ol Blowfly

Every thing is beautiful in it own way even the blowfly .

I took this photo one spring night when it was still rather cool .
There were quite a few of these Sheep Blowfly's resting on the rose leaves.
I have often wondered where insects spend the hours of darkness.
There are 1,100 species in the fly family  I think this one is Lucilia cuprina and is a major pest to the sheep farming industry.
The adults of this fly eat nectar but lay their eggs on carrion or on living animals such as sheep where the skin has become raw.
