Red Wattle Bird Anthochaera cananculata

Who's a clean bird
Young Red Wattle bird
It's that time of the year when there lots of teenage birds around and like the human teenagers they seem to depend on Mum and Dad much longer than they really should !!
I got this picture in between feeds when clearly this fellow could have been having a pretty good go at getting dinner for himself.
The Red wattle Bird is the largest of the Honeyeater Family  and is so named for the red wattles that you can see more clearly in the upper photo, the wattles are a male thing and deepen in colour and enlarge as they age. They are aggressive birds and I have seen them move Ravens on for no apparent reason but just because they feel like it.
They are also nosey and you are left in no doubt that they are in the near vicinity.
